I’m Matthew Kallen, the owner of InLine Sharpening. I handle every knife and tool myself, from kitchen and pocket knives to serrated blades, scissors, garden tools, and specialty repairs for customers throughout Monrovia and nearby San Gabriel Valley communities.

Meet Matthew
Why I Started
I started InLine Sharpening because I enjoy practical, hands-on work and the satisfaction of making a knife or tool look and work properly again.
My grandfather, Lee, sharpened knives and tools. I was too young to learn much of the trade from him at the time, but his interest in making and fixing things with precision stayed with me. My father, Bruce, showed me the value of hard work and honest communication through the way he ran his own businesses.
My Background
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked in audio post production for film, television, and music. That work trained me to notice small changes, solve technical problems, and refine a process until the results were right.
I bring that same attention to sharpening, adjusting the process for each blade’s steel, geometry, condition, and intended use.
My goal is simple: do great work and provide an honest service.
